Br. John-Mary of Jesus Crucified, OCD presented conferences on “The Prayer of Recollection” and “Difficulties in Prayer” at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA

Br. John-Mary of Jesus Crucified, OCD

Br. John-Mary of Jesus Crucified, originally from Alabama, made his Solemn Profession on July 17, 2021 and is a member of the friars’ community at the Monastery of the Espousal in Brighton, MA. He completed spirituality studies at Boston College in the fall of 2022 with a focus on St. John of the Cross. He is the producer of the podcast CarmelCast and has given numerous conferences and retreats to the Secular Order as well as young adults in the Boston area. His hobbies include running, baking and playing the organ. On April 18, 2022 he made history when he was the first-ever Discalced Carmelite friar to run in the Boston Marathon, completing the course in 2.5 hours,coming in at an impressive 106th place out of 25,230 runners overall.
